ProjectPulse

GitHub repository analytics built from persisted snapshots instead of live dashboard reads.

ProjectPulse system cover

Overview

ProjectPulse is an engineering analytics dashboard for tracked public GitHub repositories. It collects repository observations asynchronously and stores snapshots in PostgreSQL, allowing dashboards, trends and activity history to be built from persisted data instead of repeatedly querying GitHub during page loads. A Next.js frontend communicates with a NestJS API, while a separate worker performs synchronization through Redis and BullMQ. Repository metrics accumulate over time to provide historical views across multiple tracked projects.

Architecture

Engineering

Synchronization is separated from dashboard reads through queued background jobs with deduplication, retries and backoff. Dashboard and repository snapshots are persisted transactionally so existing analytics remain available even when a later GitHub refresh fails. Historical views derive their values from stored observations rather than reconstructing the past from current GitHub state.
